PROJECT SUMMARY:
© David Gibb Photography
Washington Elementary was built in 1931 as a sister school to South Medford High School. It has 25 classrooms on its 7 acre campus. Phase one of this project included installing a new roof, heating/ventilation and air conditioning upgrades, security, new flooring, painting, replace windows and elevator upgrades. The second phase of the project will be to build a new cafeteria and convert the existing cafeteria into classrooms. The new windows save energy and by upgrading the heating & ventilation and installing flooring instead of carpet, classrooms will have less allergens while contributing to better air quality for students. Flooring is also found to last 30-40 years instead of carpet which lasts 10-15, and is easier to maintain.
